Another post in the same year? Same month? Perhaps I'll get this blogging thing really working!
Normally, I paint local landscapes, special places, favorite locations that I've been to and taken photos of or even paintings that are part of workshops I've been to. But over the past few years, painting has been sidelined by lots of work and work travel, moving, organizing, plenty of grandparenting, and just hasn't been as consistent as i want it to be. Restarting a painting studio has proven challenging.
Slowly, I've put some effort into paintings like my son-in-law's sailboat on our lake, a commission of a friend's visit to a cottage in Maine, our neighbor's pets or even our own Marty in front of our home for our Christmas card. These aren't necessarily the subjects I would have chosen normally, but they've gotten me back into the paints and getting myself reacquainted with this world of watercolor that captured me so many years ago now.
I don't quite feel like I've gotten it 'back' yet, but it's getting there and ideas are starting to swirl in my head. Let's see if I can create that ongoing presence of creativity in my life once again.
